I grew up entertained by various electronic items - calculators, my brothers' old atari machine, SNES, those little electronic dictionaries which had spelling games and the like, and of course, a rudimentary PC which had a hard drive of 5 megabytes.
All through these years, I have stuck with a franchise which has facilitated much procrastination on my homework (which ultimately did get done).
This game was none other than the game so iconized by the little green and blue dinosaurs we know and love, bubble and bobble. Yes, I am talking about Puzzle Bobble.
I played PB I on my brother's computer. Being the great hoarder he is I'm sure it's still around somewhere. I got PBII for Christmas in year 9. PBIII was first played at Amanda's house in its original Japanese form. PBIV was the last one I found for the PSone. And then I got the PS2 version - the newest installment named Bust-a-move! (as it's called in English) - which had cutscenes in 3D in its story mode.
And then I went retro and got Taito Legends 2. Which had to have its cult classic, PBII in it. So I put it in and immediately, Ryna told me:
'PLAY THAT ONE KUCHAI!'
So being a nice auntie, I did. Being the perfect niece she is, she took the controller from me and started playing.
What followed was fifteen minutes of pure torture.
'shoot that red one!'
'no no, left some more...'
'no!!!! miss again ar?!'
Here's a tip... don't watch a nine year old play a game you so dearly love - a game you loved so much you copied the drawings of the characters from it, a game you spent hours playing growing up, a game you played so much you could trash just about anybody who tried to play against you - including the people who actually owned the game, machine and TV/screen you were playing on and the people you live with.
It hurts.
Now if you don't mind, I'm going to play some more. Personally, I think the green dinosaur's cuter than the blue one.

Now playing - FFVII Piano Collections
It is truly alright.
